Given the extraordinary hype that surrounds each new collaboration between a mass market retailer and a high end designer, it's so easy to be disappointed when the line actually rolls around. With the new Target Go International collection by Rogan Gregory, the hype reached an all time high. I mean really, how many discount store fashion lines debut at Barney's? I braced myself for disappointment.

But, astonishingly, I actually quite enjoy the Rogan for Target line. Trying to push the Barney's level hype to the back of my head, I hit the dressing room at my local Target loaded up with every piece of Rogan I could locate. And, surprisingly, I actually walked out with two pieces that I adore and a handful of picks that I will likely purchase once I locate a piece in my size to try on. Considering that I haven't purchased more than one piece from any of the previous Go International lines, this puts Rogan firmly in first place in my book.

My two initial purchases are pictured here. The Rogan New York City Tee [right] was an easy must-buy. It is crafted from the softest organic cotton I've ever felt; It's even more sumptuous than my favorite tees from Splendid and C&C California. The shirt color is a slightly faded black, with a bit of a mocha brown tint, and features a true black "New York City" screenprint. I wore it to work paired with my favorite dark blue 7 For All Mankind Ginger Jeans and a shrunken black blazer. 10 hours later I still loved it, and still couldn't believe it was under $17.

I also picked up the Rogan Gauze Blazer [top left], which may prove to be the stand out piece from this line if early reviews hold true. This super lightweight blazer is incredibly well-constructed for the price. Actually, for any price. And the look is so unique. The transparent pale, pale green gauze is covering a leopard print lining, which shows through ever so slightly. It's chic and tailored, but still funky. I can't wait to try it out.

I can't believe that I'm actually considering paying over $100 for a polyester top that isn't from Karta ('cause let's be serious, Karta makes poly cool). But, seriously, this brand new draped, shiny top from Use Unused is fabulous.

Why so fab? First, it's totally unique. The front has pleated bib draping that creates oversized pockets in the style of your favorite hoodie, while the back features a half moon cut-out framed by a spaghetti thin wisp of fabric between the shoulder blades (click through to see). The whole package is completely unlike anything else I've seen lately.

On top of this unique look is the fact that this gorgeous shirt, which gently hugs the hips to effortlessly show off your curves, is a perfect party piece without showing an inch of cleavage. And the best part is that I was already plotting the trendy night spots where this top would be right at home when I realized that it was completely modest. I think that's the mark of truly exceptional design when you notice the folds and details before you notice the skin underneath. Love it.

As I mentioned in a previous post, Tory Burch "Reva" Flats are still the hottest flats amongst the women of NYC. So you think you can design... the Yaz birth control case. That should be the name of the next fashion design reality show to hit MTV – I mean someone has to compete with Project Runway, or at least air while they are filming a new one!

While designing clothes and accessories might be two different skill sets, a contest to makeover the dreaded plastic pouch your monthly birth control comes in sounds like a skill all in it’s own. Good ole Nina Garcia-- yes, she’s judging someone again-- has launched a contest with Step Up Women’s Network and Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals to design a new case for Yaz to be submitted by June 30th, 2008. What an opportunity! You could dictate the future iconic accessory of the birth control case that every girl wants – a sell-out, an eBay “buy now”, the must have!

Well, since your wheels are already turning, take a moment and wrap your mind around the $10,000 prize to invest in your dream design career and be the talk of the town during Fashion Week this fall. Yep, that could be you. The Yaz birth control case designer. “The design challenge we’re posing is a fashion transformation unlike any other,” says Garcia. That’s for sure, the case could literally be made of anything if you think about it, but it must be fashionable to impress the judges. “We're taking an iconic accessory-- the birth control case-- and asking aspiring designers to take a shot at redesigning it into a chic, more sophisticated carrying case that they could slip into their purses.”

This could cause a revolution – just think, you could be the person who made just having the case “so now”, girls wouldn’t necessarily even be on the pill, just having the case would be enough. So go into your wannabe design studio, okay, your converted closet, and make it work!

SCOOP's co-owner Stefani Greenfield is proudly carrying a chic new limited-edition dress, which will debut today on HSN for the special one-year anniversary show of Scoop Style. The dress might as well have been designed by a celebrity. A reality show celebrity that is... from Project Runway! Rami Kashou, the designer who might as well have been transported from ancient Greece with his chic draping style, has designed a special gown for this HSN show only, available in black, rich peacock (should be a band name), lime pop and vintage sea foam. The dress costs $280, and with such a fabulous limited time offer, will surely fly off the hangers of SCOOP. The boutique featured a design by another PR star, Uli Herzner last year, and it was a huge success.

The first SCOOP opened in 1996 and has now expanded to 15 locations. It's hard to find another place that feels as though you've walked into the most up-to-the-minute stylized closet fit for a queen in any other place than New York, but this HSN insight makes this a reality even for Susie Smalltown in the village of 300 in Northern PA. FOUND: Classy Summer Shorts

Ah... the season of dreadful shorts is here. Back in action are shorts made from a variety of fabrics. Although some women decided to stop wearing shorts altogether after the age of 12, I beg you to give them another chance. Shorts can be fun and are capable of giving you the perfect breeze during the heat. I’m an anti-tight shorts kind of gal, but I do adore shorts that hug the hips and are loose fitting around the thighs.

When buying shorts it is important you feel confident in the pair you buy and know that you will actually wear them. Material is important to consider when making your purchase. Some stretchy materials don’t look good on certain body types because of the way the material hangs-- it tends to be less flattering. I usually recommend buying a size larger when purchasing non-stretch shorts. When buying shorts in stretchy material, make sure you ask yourself how often you’re going to want to wear them, because they may look different after a few wears, loosing their sexy fit.

For those of you who like the idea of shorts, I have some fun and classy recommendations. This fun pair of Armani Exchange shorts is perfect for the beach, or an afternoon outing. I wouldn’t wear this pair out at night or with heels, but they’re great with sandals for lunch or shopping. They are comfortable and seem like a wonderful pair to take traveling. The cute ties on both sides definitely make them look more fashionable and flirty-- perfect for a fashion conscious lady.

The Rubbish Linen Blend Shorts are my ultimate favorite. I’m biased towards linen shorts because they are flattering and classy. The only downfall with linen is the wrinkles, but I think that’s manageable. Linen is perfect for the warm weather because it doesn’t stick to your skin and almost gives you the feeling you’re nude. Also, the fit on linen shorts are right on. They are never tight looking or feeling, which is so sexy.
