Fashion Week 2007: Cinch That Waist for Fall

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week has been going strong for less than 48 hours, but already there are distinct trends emerging from the tents. One such trend that has stood out: the cinched waist is back. Ok, so it never really went away. It did take a slight vacation during the spring lines, only to return full force for fall.

The look is uber-ladylike, with thick belts cinching sweaters and jackets and paired with skirts and the occasional wide-leg pant. Nearly every womenswear designer so far has shown at least two cinched waist looks and Nicole Miller boasted nine cinched waists-- fully half of the looks shown at her show! Moral of the story, ladies? Don't start packing those belts off to Goodwill just yet. You'll be needing them for fall! Check out some of the stand-out belted looks shown so far:
